Applying For A Course In Canada

Before applying for study permit;

  • You need an acceptance letter from designated learning institution(DLI).
  • A valid passport.
  • Proof of fund to support yourself.

To enter Canada depending on the country from where you are applying.  You will receive your study permit at the port of entry when you arrive Canada.

Several intakes are available throughout the year, mainly; October, January, April and July.

English Language Requirements

IELTS,  TOEFL, Cambrdige Assessment, PTE(Pearson Test of English) are some of the English language tests accepted by Canadian Universities.  Certain institutions conduct English language tests themselves.

For undergraduate programs, you require a minimum of overall 6.0 band and 5.5 in all 4 bands of IELTS.  For postgraduate programmes, you require a minimum of overall 6.5 and 6.0 in all 4 bands.

Work While Studying In Canada

You can work up to 20 hours per week while studying in Canada and also full time during your breaks without a work permit, thus helping you to support yourself and gain work experiences.

Stay Back Option In Canada

After your finish your studies, you can work in Canada making use of below options;

  • Post graduation work permit- This permit allows you to work up to 3 years after completion of your graduation, you do not require a job offer to apply for this permit.

  • Express Entry-Express Entry system uses a points-bases system CRS (Comprehensive Ranking System) which rank the candidates considering the factors; age, level of education, language proficiency, and Canadian work experience.  A cut off score for CRS  is fixed by federal government for Express Entry draws conducted. Being a student in Canada, you receive 30 additional points in CRS(Comprehensive Ranking System).

  • Provincial Nominee Program- Through this system, Applicants get an upper hand in PNP nomination if they complete study in a particular province.
